1Once Fine, North Face Is Now Crap
By H. Sansom
My favorite hiking and camping stores (not the big chains like EMS) have stopped carrying North Face gear because it is so poorly made these days. For years I bought mostly North Face. Now I avoid it like the plague. The zippers _invariably_ go quickly. All of the NF gear I've got in the past five years has seen zippers fail inside of two years. The zips snag, they break, they jump the zipper teeth (or whatever they're called). On my "Big Shot" pack, _two_ zippers failed within two years. The liner material that is heat-bonded to the fabric separates and flakes off inside the pack, killing the waterproofing. On this particular pack -- the "Big Shot" -- the vertical zippers on the back are _perfectly_ designed for pickpockets if you're in an urban area; they just have to pull down the zip and stuff will tumble out with no help at all. Additionally, when loaded, the pack cannot be set on its base and remain upright because the bottom is at an angle to the back; that is, the bottom of the pack is not remotely square to the front or the back.

I strongly recommend Kelty or Osprey now. I have gear of both makes that has withstood years of heavy use under a variety of conditions.

5Good backpack
By Juan
I bought this backpack for using it for college, is really a good inversion because when I have to carry a lot of books like accounting or management, I don't get any pain on my back, I can walk for hours with those and nothing happens, sometimes I use this backpack for tracking.
